If you’re looking for a kart racing game that doesn’t involve Mario or Sonic, then here’s a new one for you on Apple Arcade. It’s called Warped Kart Racers, which features characters from the most unlikely of sources – Fox-owned animated TV shows.
The game even has a dedicated YouTube channel, where its trailer is available. From it, we can see familiar elements from other kart racers, including the notorious blue shell. The trailer states that there are 16 tracks and 20 characters to choose from, with five representatives from each series. Races can take up to eight players. There’s even a singleplayer campaign, which should be interesting.
Naturally there are also other customisation options beyond the character you pick. These include different types of karts, the wheels on them, and their gliders deployed during specific segments of each race. Though it’s not clear from the trailer if any of these offer any gameplay differences beyond cosmetics. Naturally, since Warped Kart Racers is an Apple Arcade game, you can expect there to be no microtransactions. Instead, these are unlocked via daily challenges.
Neither the trailer nor its dedicated Apple App Store page has the release date of the game. But according to The Verge, Warped Kart Racers will be available on 20 May.
