Back in 2020, we saw Apple made available its 2m Thunderbolt 3 Pro cable for RM649. Times have changed (a little) since then, and now, the iPhone maker has a longer cable that supports the newer Thunderbolt 4 standard. And as you’d expect, this new Apple Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable also comes with a step up in price.
Much like before, this new cable is braided to give it a little bit of extra durability and a lot more in terms of preventing tangles. The new Thunderbolt 4 standard aside, the cable still transports data at a rate of 40Gbps and 100W of power as the old cable did.
One notable difference compared to the old one is the fact that this new Apple Thunderbolt 4 Pro USB-C cable measures in at 3m in length. Which is a rarity to say the least. On that note, the company also seems to have retired the old 2m Thunderbolt 3 Pro cable in favour of a slightly shorter 1.8m Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable for the same price of RM649.
But what about this 3m cable? For the local market, Apple has priced its 3m Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable at RM799. Which is pretty outrageous a price for a cable, considering there are phones that come with a similar price tag. That being said, it’s still one of the very few options, if not the only one, if you need a Thunderbolt 4 cable of such lengths.
