Victim died from strangulation, says Perak cops

IPOH: The autopsy on the decomposed body that was found near the Jalan Tambun-Jalan Ampang traffic junction on Wednesday (Oct 12) here shows that the victim had died from strangulation, says Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

With the latest information, the Perak police chief said the case has been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“We will investigate the matter from all angles.

“Judging from the tattoos on her arm and fingers, the victim is believed to be a 23-year-old female,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

“We also found a mobile phone at the location and it is confirmed to belong to the victim,” he added.

Earlier today, policemen that were dispatched to investigate an accident near the junction had made the gruesome find at about 5.25am.

The victim was found to be fully clothed and had then been classified as sudden death.

Comm Mohd Yusri said those who may have information into the matter can contact investigating officer Asst Supt Chua Sze Yuan at 012-619 5312 to assist with the investigations.
