Three missing French climbers found safe in Cameron Highlands

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The three French nationals, who went missing while climbing Gunung Berembun in Tanah Rata here on Friday (March 18), have been found safe.

The three, including two women, were found along one of the paths of the mountain at 7.12pm by the public, according to Sinar Harian.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ismail Abdul Ghani said the department received a call regarding their disappearance at 4.56pm on Friday (March 18).

He said the trio were believed to have lost their way between trail seven and eight along the mountain.

“They were later found by the public, who were coincidentally in the area, and operations are ongoing to bring the victims down from the mountain.

“Earlier one of the victims made a distress call to the fire department for assistance, when they failed to find a way down from the mountain.

“Following the information we obtained, seven personnel from the Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the location for the search operation,” he said.
