Motorola has launched the latest model in its premium X-series, the X40. The newest addition omits the “Pro” moniker unlike the X30 Pro launched earlier this year. Of course, this doesn’t mean the phone doesn’t come with significant upgrades, especially under the hood.

First up is the display where the X40 is rocking a 2400×1080 6.7-inch OLED screen with a high 165Hz refresh rate. It features 10-bit colours, HDR support, curved edges, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The phone itself is IP68 dust and water resistance while the back of the phone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Specs-wise, the Motorola X40 boasts the latest SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The chipset is kept cool by a vapour chamber cooling system. As for configurations, it can be packed with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The camera is where we see a bit of a downgrade from its predecessor. Instead of last year’s 200MP ISOCELL sensor for the main lens, the X40 uses a 50MP with OIS instead. The other two cameras are comprised of the same 50MP ultrawide and a 12MP telephoto. Up front, the phone keeps the 60MP selfie shooter.

The battery capacity of the Motorola remains practically unchanged from last year at 4,610mAh. The phone has support for an incredibly fast 125W wired charging as well as 15W wireless charging and a new addition of 5W reverse wired charging for your other devices. The connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.

The Motorola X40 is offered in black and blue, starting from CNY3,399 (~RM2,160) for the base 8GB+128GB variant. The highest configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs CNY4,299 (~RM2,730). The company has not announced availability in other markets yet.
