KUALA LUMPUR: The production of “Peak of Heaven”, a film that tells the trials and tribulations of a group of Malaysians in their quest to climb Mount Everest in 1997, is necessary to remind Malaysians of the “Malaysia Boleh” spirit, says Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker.
The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister said the film was one of the best examples that portrays the Malaysian Family spirit as displayed by the ten climbers in the expedition 25 years ago.
He said the group comprised Malaysians from various states, backgrounds, and ethnicities, adding that their goal was not to earn glory for themselves but to scale Everest and raise the Jalur Gemilang.
He said this at a press conference after attending the 25th-anniversary celebration of the 1997 Mount Everest Expedition and launching The Summit-97 media franchise here Thursday (Feb 17).
He said the patriotism demonstrated by the expedition group should be commemorated as it captures the true spirit of the Malaysian Family. – Bernama
