TNB helps Johor cops disconnect power supply to eight suspected illegal gambling dens

JOHOR BARU: Police disconnected the power supply, with assistance from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), to eight premises allegedly used for illegal gambling activities.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Sohaimi Ishak said the operation took place on Wednesday (Feb 16) starting from 10am and ended at 12.15pm.

He said the operation was led by the Seri Alam Police District headquarters operational intelligence officer of the criminal investigation division.

“The operation also involved Pasir Gudang TNB staff,” Supt Sohaimi said in a statement Wednesday.

The gambling dens were in the Masai, Seri Alam, Pasir Gudang and Scientex areas.

He said the power supply was cut under Section 21A (1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

“We applied for the power supply to be cut at the eight premises,” said Supt Sohaimi, adding that similar action was taken against 38 illegal gambling dens last year.
