Syed Saddiq apologises to Johor PKR veep over FB post

PETALING JAYA: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has apologised for claiming that Tiram assemblyman and Johor PKR vice-chairman S. Gopalakrishnan neglected the welfare of his constituents.

“I admit that the post on my visit to Ulu Tiram has belittled the duties and responsibilities carried out by a PKR assemblyman. In the spirit of togetherness with the friends of PKR, I apologise for my mistake,” the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday (Feb 5).

The session to visit and meet the people in Ulu Tiram was a process for him and Muda to learn more about taking care of members of the public, said Syed Saddiq.

“Muda itself is not perfect. Including me. In the Muar Parliament (constituency), I am also not perfect. There are many more duties and responsibilities that I have to fulfil,” he said.

In his apology, Syed Saddiq welcomed others to point out or criticise his work and speech should he fall short of expectations.

Earlier, Syed Saddiq had allegedly said in a deleted Facebook posting that local leaders had been irresponsible and did not care for the welfare of the Ulu Tiram community.
