Xiaomi has officially debuted its latest midrange lineup with the Redmi Note 12 series. The lineup consists of three devices: the Note 12, the Note 12 5G, and the Note 12 Pro Plus 5G.
All three devices sport the same 6.67-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. However, one discrepancy is that the two lower-end devices boast a peak brightness of 1,200 nits while the Pro Plus only has a peak brightness of 900 nits, but it makes up for it by supporting Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Note 12 Pro Plus 5G
The highest-end offering of the series runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
For cameras, the Redmi equipped the Note 12 Pro Plus with a massive 200MP sensor with OIS along with an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP selfie shooter up front. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for impressive 120W charging.
Aside from that, the entire lineup is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and IP53 dust and water resistance. Each phone is also equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster.
Note 12 5G
The Note 12 5G runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although, unlike the Pro Plus, it has a microSD slot for up to 1TB of storage expansion. Connectivity-wise, it supports 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC.
It has a triple-camera setup made up of a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP front camera. Powering the device is the same 5,000mAh battery but with much slower 33W charging.
Note 12
Last but not least, the vanilla Note 12 runs on a Snapdragon 685 and can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but just like its 5G counterpart, it has a microSD expansion slot. The phone supports 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC.
Aside from the 48MP main camera, the photography system is the same as the 5G variant, including an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 13MP front camera. Once again, it is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging.
The Redmi Note 12 series will be available for pre-order from 6 to 13 April via its retail stores or online stores on Shopee and Lazada, with a Redmi Smart Band 2 for those who purchase during this period. When it goes on sale on 14 April, customers will receive a Redmi Buds 4 Lite with every Note 12 series purchase while stocks last.
The retail prices for the series are RM799 for the Redmi Note 12 (8GB+128GB), RM1,099 for the Note 12 5G, and RM1,599 for the Note 12 Pro Plus 5G. However, early birds can get the Note 12 with 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB, which is exclusively available online, for RM699 with a special price of RM659 during the pre-order period.
