PETALING JAYA: The spirit of the Malaysian Family is evident during the Chinese New Year celebrations this year, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president also said that the harmony and uniqueness of Malaysian society has always been a source of strength for the diverse nation.
“May the Year of the Tiger continue to give us strength, well-being and prosperity as well as long-lasting health,” the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post Tuesday (Feb 1).
He added that MCA had held its Chinese New Year celebrations earlier Tuesday, while adhering to strict guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“The ceremony was enlivened with Chinese traditional performances such as a Tiger Dance, as well as Yee Sang, which is a symbol of luxury, wealth, happiness and prosperity for the Chinese community,” he said.
The event was attended by some Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers including International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, among others.
There were also political party leaders present including Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahidi and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Other dignitaries at the invitation-only event included ambassadors, high commissioners and other representatives of foreign nations.
