Apple Music has always offered a generous trial period since it launched in 2015, giving new users three months of use for free. That all changed recently, when the company from Cupertino quietly decided to change its policy, offering a free trial of just one month now — the same as rival Spotify.

According to 9to5Mac, the reduced offer applies to all countries where Apple Music is available. We can confirm that upon checking, the new free period is also applicable for users in Malaysia, where it costs RM14.90 per month after the trial ends.

That said, the tech giant is still offering a six-month Apple Music trial for those who recently purchased an eligible Apple audio product, such as AirPods or Beats. It’s only applicable for those who have never subscribed to the streaming service and you will have three months after activating your new device to redeem the offer.

If you missed out on the longer free trial, don’t fret. Touch ‘n Go has an ongoing Apple Music campaign that gives new users a free subscription for four months when you redeem through the TNG eWallet app. Verified university students can also still get a special rate at only RM6.90 per month.
