32 Pahang Bersatu members quit party to join Umno

KUANTAN: A group of 32 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members from the Maran division has quit to join Umno, including its Srikandi chief.

Siti Nora Mohamad Noor and the group handed over their Umno membership forms to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is the Pahang Umno liaison committee chairman at an event on Wednesday (Feb 9).

Siti Nora said they made the move as they had lost faith in the direction of Bersatu.

She claimed that more than 100 Maran Bersatu members would follow suit and join Umno soon.

Wan Rosdy said the group’s decision to join Umno was based on their own conscience.

“They also expressed confidence and belief that Umno is capable of governing the state and the country well.

“On behalf of the state government, I am grateful because the work and focus of the state government in developing the state and caring for the welfare of the people have been appreciated and seen by the people,” he said.

Wan Rosdy said although there were those who try to instil hatred towards the state government, the majority of the people were rational and wise in evaluating the initiatives and actions taken by the state government.

“Umno is an inclusive party. On that basis, Umno is always open and welcomes anyone to join the largest Malay party, as long as they will sincerely fight for religion, race and country,” he said.
