BUKIT MERTAJAM: At least 16 people were injured following a major accident between a trailer and factory bus in Jalan Perusahaan, Juru, here.

The accident, which was believed to be head-on, left the trailer’s cabin crushed and the bus overturned sideways across the road.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they were alerted about the incident at about 7.21pm Saturday (Feb 12).

“Upon arrival, we found victims of the bus scattered all over the scene.

“The driver of the trailer was pinned inside the cabin and special tools were used to extricate him before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

“There were 21 passengers and a driver inside the bus during the incident, and 15 of the passengers sustained light injuries while the driver sustained semi-critical injuries,” he said.

The case is under investigation.
